Stillman Students Compete in Business & Society International Case Competition

Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business was one of 25 leading business schools chosen to send students to participate in the Aspen Institute’s 2014 Business & Society International MBA Competition. During the case competition, MBA students explore and design innovations at the intersection of environmental, social, and ethical issues and corporate profitability.

Nancy McGaw, the director of the Aspen Institute’s Center for Business Education, explained the rationale behind the competition: “All too often, we hear about the damage done by the private sector. The fact is that there are many innovative leaders in business who are leveraging the tools of business to improve our world. This competition, now in its fifth year, helps students acquire the skills and perspectives these leaders possess. It gives students a chance to practice making the kinds of decisions that drive business success and produce lasting social benefits.”

Each of the 25 schools participating in the Business & Society International MBA Competition will host individual competitions to determine a campus winner. Each school will send the campus winner’s work to the competition organizers. A panel of judges will choose five honorable mentions and five finalists from the campus winning entries. The five finalists will be flown to New York City, where they will present for a panel of corporate and social sector experts on April 5. The winning team will receive a $15,000 cash prize, and $1,000 to donate to their favorite charity.

Other schools participating in the competition include Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, New York University’s Stern School of Business, Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business and the Villanova School of Business.
