Leavey Introduces Two New Programs

The Santa Clara University Board of Trustees approved two new programs, a graduate and an undergraduate degree, in the Leavey School of Business on June 5, according to a press release from the school.

One of the programs approved by the Board was an MS in Supply Chain Management. This degree is a four-quarter, full-time program designed to give students the skills they need to succeed as entry-level employees in large corporations as well as consulting companies that are increasingly being used to find solutions to supply chain problems. Students who complete this program will have gained an understanding of the complex relationships between supply constraints, customer needs, and competition that is enhanced when looked at through the context of big data that is housed on and delivered through advanced information technology. Recruiting for the program begins in Fall 2015 and the first students will begin classes in Summer 2016.

The other program that the board approved was an Individual Studies major within Leavey. While many students are content with the selection of majors offered by colleges, there are some who are interested in something beyond what the standard array of options offers. This program is designed for highly-motivated students whose interests fall outside the confines of normal options, allowing them to construct an interdisciplinary course of study best suited to their needs. This is the first time this option has been offered outside of the College of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering. Students in this program will be guided by a faculty advisor to help them create an effective program of study.
