Cameron MBA Students Explore Global Business Abroad

reasons to earn your mba in europe

A recent study abroad trip from the University of St. Thomas – Cameron School of Business invited MBA students to tour three major capitals of finance in Europe: London, England; Strasbourg, France; and Frankfurt, Germany.

Nine MBA students —  from the Globalization in Europe course — were led through these three major European financial hubs by Dr. Daniel Perez, assistant professor of finance. The class hoped to convey the challenges of working in the European business sphere and gave students the opportunity to learn about such topics as how to engage in international trade with the EU.

The trip included stops to such major financial landmarks as Lloyd’s of London, the European Parliament and the German Stock Exchange. Students also had the chance to take part in an open dialogue with the companies they visited.

Tracy Nguyen, a Cameron MBA student who blogged about her experiences abroad, commented: “Each location along the trip provided learning opportunities ranging from differences in governmental structure and function to the operation of international financial institutions.”

Nathan Schoggins, an MBA/MSA student who works at a London-based company in Houston, commented on the importance of the trip for helping the students to see how cultures with so much history are capable of operating in the modern business world.

“I hope they take away how interesting and complex the financial world is and how different players and parts of the world interact with the global financial system,” said Perez, the trip’s leader.
