Fox School of Business and Tandigm Unite to Discuss Healthcare’s Future

healthcare

MBA alumni from Temple University’s Fox School of Business recently collaborated with students from the College of Public Health for a presentation on the future of healthcare management.

Students engaged with representatives from Tandigm Health during the interdisciplinary course, which addressed such issues as strategic problem solving and responsible leadership.

Dr. Amy Lynch, Occupational Therapy professor and host of the presentation, remarked,

“[The goal is] a better provider and consumer experience… it’s not a single person winning a race in healthcare. In fact, it’s a team effort.  [The presenters from Tandigm] offered an incredibly dynamic lecture that highlighted much of what they learned at Fox – challenging students to be thoughtful in evaluating healthcare challenges, while also covering the spirited nature of leadership embedded in innovative and collaborative thinking.”

The Tandigm lecturers each received their MBAs from the Fox School. Director of informatics Antonio Tedesco, (MBA, ’04), president and CEO Dr. Anthony V. Colleta, (MBA ’06), and vice president of operations Brett Huberman, (MBA ’00) each shared their experience with the innovative company, which is new to the world of Philadelphia healthcare.

Formed as a partnership with Independence Blue Cross and HealthCare Partners, Tandigm is unique in that it compensates physicians for providing preventative wellness care as opposed to paying them for services that they render.

A postgraduate student in the occupational therapy program, Caroline Welch, found great value in the presentation.

She said,

“As a full-time clinician, my knowledge and understanding of the business side of healthcare is limited. That is one of the reasons that I found Tandigm’s presentation to be so interesting and beneficial.”

Fox, in the center of Philadelphia’s booming healthcare economy, is renowned for both its Master of Health Administration and its MBA in Health Sector Management.
