Gabelli Addresses Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship, Wins AACSB Award

AACSB Award

Gabelli School of Business recently celebrated the school’s win at AACSB Award winning 2017 Innovations That Inspire initiative, created to “shine a spotlight on a variety of ways that business schools are changing the face of business education.”

Gabelli was “one of 35 submissions to be awarded this distinction” and Dean Donna Rapaccioli couldn’t be prouder that Gabelli’s “pragmatic multi-faceted approach is being noticed globally.”

The AACSB Award win was due in large part to the efforts of the Fordham Social Innovation Collaboratory (FSIC), a “network of students, faculty and other community members who work together to innovate new solutions to [issues related] to social justice, social entrepreneurship, inclusion and environmental sustainability.”

The Collaboratory also recently scooped a Verizon Foundation grant to operate “practicums on food and enterprise, UN cookstoves, sustainable fashion and sustainable food practice, [including] a Refugee Dinner series.”

Collaboratory Fieldwork Design Leader Olivia Greenspan is a vocal advocate for FSIC’s capacity to expand students’ experiences beyond their concentrations through multidisciplinary interaction.

“By working on teams of students, faculty, administrators and industry professionals with highly diverse areas of expertise, students of all majors learn to use their coursework to engage with people outside of their chosen discipline—a skill that is becoming increasingly valuable not only in ‘changemaker’ fields, but in the entire range of vocations.”
