University of Houston Professional MBA Program Structure
The University of Houston Professional MBA program is a flexible program that takes 22 months to complete. Students in this program have the option of beginning in the fall or the spring semesters. The Professional MBA program at Bauer consists of 48 credit hours. Students must complete 21 core credit hours and 27 elective credit hours. Students in this program participate in courses during fall, spring and summer sessions.
Students entering the program in the fall participate in a cohort lockstep structure, while students entering the program in the spring participate in a more flexible scheduling structure. During the fall and spring semesters, each course meets once a week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Class held over the summer session meet twice a week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for about six weeks.
The program features 21 hours of core courses that give students an essential overview of business knowledge and an additional 27 hours of electives that can be targeted towards a variety of career-related tracks.
Students spend the first year in this program completing core courses that will build business and management knowledge. The second year features elective courses that students are able to select in order to fit their career and education goals.
Students in the University of Houston Professional MBA program are an average age of 30 with six years of professional work experience. The average GMAT score for students in the Professional MBA program is 610.
Over 70% of students in the program are male, with under 30% female. International and minority students represent 50% of enrollment.

Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition costs for the University of Houston Professional MBA program at Bauer are estimated at $40,000 for Texas residents, $64,000 for non-resident students, and $67,000 for international students. Program costs vary depending on the number of academic hours undertaken and the status of the student.
Financial aid is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and U.S. permanent residents through the federal government. Financial aid is made up of grants and loans. Grants are very limited and need-based, so students are encouraged to complete their FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 of the year they plan on attending UH. A graduate student in one of these categories is eligible for $20,500.00 per year in Federal Direct unsubsidized loans.
The Bauer College of Business offers more than 100 merit-based scholarships to well qualified Full-Time MBA students. Bauer offers several scholarships for students including the MBA Bauer Excellence Scholarship. Students can receive up to $10,000 per year, qualify for in-state tuition (for non-residents) and receive a two-year subscription to The Wall Street Journal.
Admission eligibility for the Professional MBA program at Bauer requires a four-year undergraduate degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution. The undergraduate degree may be in any discipline.
In order to be considered for admission, applicants must complete the online application for graduate studies, provide two copies of official transcripts, submit official GMAT or GRE scores, pay the $75 non-refundable application fee, provide two letters of recommendation, complete a self-appraisal form and provide a resume and a goal statement.
International applicants that are non-native English speakers must submit either a TOEFL score of 603 or above on the paper-based test or 100 on the internet-based test. Applicants who do not wish to take the TOEFL must have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above, or a minimum of 70 on the PTE. There’s an additional $75 international application fee alongside the standard $75 application fee.
If an applicant is selected to continue with the admissions process, an interview is required before an official admissions decision will be made. Official decisions will be made after the interview process is complete.
Like the full-time MBA at Bauer, the Professional MBA deadline is June 1 for U.S. residents and April 1 for international applicants. All applications are accepted on a rolling basis after the allotted deadlines. U.S. applicants applying for the spring session must apply by November 1, and international students must apply by October 1.
