SDSU Part-Time MBA Program Structure

Like the full-time MBA, the San Diego State Part-Time MBA consists of 45 units (15 classes) but can be completed in three-to-four years, rather than one-to-two. Classes are scheduled only for evening hours once per week at 4-6:40 p.m. and 7-9:40 p.m., to accommodate students working full-time.

Curriculum at the San Diego State Part-Time MBA

The SDSU part-time MBA curriculum requires 30 units of foundational and professional core courses that cover topics such as statistical analysis, marketing, and financial management. In addition, 9-15 units of electives are required, and 12 of those 18 units can be devoted to a specialization. One business strategy course as well as one culminating experience course–at three units each–are also required.
The elective/specialization courses cover topics in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, health services, information systems, international business, management, marketing, project management, and supply chain management.

Class Profile

Roughly 58 percent of a students recently enrolled in SDSU graduate business programs were male, 42 percent female. Students were, on average, 27-years old and join the program with a GPA of 3.42 and a GMAT average of 621. Enrolled students have an average of more than 3 years of previous work experience.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The basic tuition for part-time graduate students is $3,279 for Fall 2021. An additional $270/unit fee is applied for the MBA students and out-of-state students must also pay an additional $396/unit. According to the school’s most recently published graduate program brochure the estimated cost of tuition for in-state part-time MBA students is $33,502 and $50,242 for out-of-state students.

Financial aid may be available for MBA students who need assistance with their studies. Graduate students may qualify for a Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan, as well as subsidized or unsubsidized loans. Furthermore, SDSU scholarships may be available for MBA students.

There is one fellowship offering for SDSU MBAs, as well as nine teaching assistantships, and 27 research assistantships.

Admissions to the San Diego State Part-Time MBA

SDSU part-time MBA applicants need to submit transcripts from previous institutions, GMAT or GRE scores (currently waived due the pandemic), a current résumé, a statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, and the completed program application. A $55 application fee is also required.

The GMAT or GRE may be waived in light of a Ph.D., MD or JD degree only. While work experience is not required to apply, the program does encourage at least two years of it. Non-native English speaking applicants may have to provide either TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
