USD Celebrates Third Annual Research Week

From April 18–21, the University of San Diego celebrated its third annual Research Week. It was a campus-wide celebration of research activity, honoring USD excellence. The event focused on USD students, faculty, staff and administrators and their research in classrooms, laboratories, centers and institutes, through published books and reports, experiences and within the community. The Energy Initiatives at the McCombs School of Business

The United States is a leader in the production and supply of energy. It’s also one of the world’s largest energy consumers. And as the world’s population grows and the industrialization of the underdeveloped world continues, energy demand is expected to surge. In fact, 50 percent of U.S. capital expenditures in the coming years are expected to be energy related: power plants, transmission, oil and gas rigs, pipelines, etc.

Adventure in Vietnam in the Cass Business MBA Program

A few weeks ago, a number of MBA alumni and current students from City University London’s Cass Business School took a trip to Southeast Asia. The trip was to celebrate the end of the MBA International Consulting Week and was part of a pilot Leadership Expedition. It’s all part of Cass Business’ plan to develop a more adventurous MBA program that encourages students to build an explorer mindset—able to read and respond to rapidly changing business environments. Goizueta Leadership Initiatives Get $3.5 Million Thanks to Delta

Leadership development is one of the key skills emphasized in many MBA programs. In fact, Forbes and the U.S. News & World Report mention leadership as one of the top reasons to earn an MBA.

The importance of leadership training is particularly evident in Bloomberg’s 2016 Job Skills Report. Each year, Bloomberg asks 1,251 job recruiters and 547 companies about the skills they want but can’t find. In all industries, leadership skills were found to be less common, but highly desired in candidates.

Emory University’s Goizueta Business School is preparing its graduates for the demands of their next positions by placing an emphasis on its leadership initiatives, which just received a huge boost thanks to a $3.5 million gift from the Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Foundation. Continue reading…

UC San Diego: A Changemaker Campus

The University of California San Diego has become the first University of California campus to be designated as a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U. The designation is in response to UC San Diego’s role as a leader in social innovation education.
