S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management One-Year MBA Program Structure

The Cornell Johnson One-Year MBA is a full-time program designed for students who have already earned a certification or are enrolled in one of the school’s dual degree programs. Certifications include: CFA, CPA, Institute of Chartered Financial Accountants (U.K. and India version of CPA), Society of Actuaries, and PMPs. The program begins in May and ends in May of the following year, including a 10-week orientation in the summer. The entire program takes place on the Cornell main campus in Ithaca, New York.


The condensed schedule of the Cornell Johnson One-Year MBA, combines core courses, a management practicum, electives, and performance and immersion learning options. The program offers five “initial depth” concentrations, like the Two-Year MBA option, of which include:

Student Body

The most recent SC Johnson One-Year MBA class features 69 students that are, on average, 29-years old. Women made up about 46 percent of the class. Underrepresented minority students represent 18 percent of the class and international students make up 59 percent of the class.

Students join the program with a GMAT average of 690, a GPA of 3.62, and 5.6 years of work experience.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The total cost for the One-Year MBA at Cornell Johnson is currently $136,064.

To help students finance their studies, Johnson offers a range of merit-based scholarships. Admitted students are automatically considered for certain merit-based awards, and about 30 percent of Johnson students receive related financial support. The most prestigious of scholarships offered to incoming students is the Park Leadership Fellowship, which provides a full-tuition grant to up to 25 entrants. Johnson is part of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, an organization devoted to promoting diversity in business schools. MBA candidates may apply through this program to Johnson, and they are then eligible for full-tuition fellowships. For those applicants who did not receive awards during their first year, there is one scholarship opportunity open to returning students, the Fried Fellowship. There is also a variety of loan options available to Johnson students, including federal loan programs for U.S. citizens and private loans for international students. Johnson has partnered with Quorum Federal Credit Union to offer international students loans that do not require a cosigner.
