New Building Places Rutgers Among Most Beautiful Business Schools In the World

The new building on Rutgers Business School Newark/New Brunswick’s Livingston Campus, nicknamed “100 Rock,” has earned the school a place among the most beautiful business schools in the world, according to Top Management Degrees. The building earned Rutgers 19th place in the website’s ranking of the top 50 most beautiful business schools.

Rutgers Business School’s new building just opened in September of this year. It cost the school $85 million to complete. It features a main atrium with a wide stairway, which draws inspiration from the Piazza Di Spagna in Rome. While the building draws on past architectural marvels for inspiration, the building was also designed to look like a corporate headquarters, and bring the university into the future. 100 Rock is equipped with $4 million dollars worth of business technology, and it is powered by solar fields and temperature controlled by a geothermal field, showing the school’s commitment to technology and sustainable energy.

100 Rock was designed by Enrique Norten of Ten Arquitectos. He was delighted by the recognition for his work, and of Rutgers’ Business School’s ideas for the building. Norten stated “I am very pleased to see the school being recognized for being a forward-looking institution that has embraced the paradigms of campus urbanism, inter-departmental collaboration, ecological sustainability, and state-of-the-art technology.”

Rutgers Business School beat some other prestigious business schools, including the University of California’s Hass School of Business (which ranked 24th), the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (39th), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management (42nd).
