Waves of Innovation Award Granted to Professor for EMBA Development

Teri Tompkins, Professor of Applied Behavioral Science at the Graziadio School of Business and Management, has been awarded a $83,000 grant for a proposed study on how the school can create a next-generation Executive MBA program that allows students from other parts of the country and world to attend Pepperdine EMBA classes, while allowing traditional EMBA students greater opportunities to take emphasis courses.

Tompkins is one of six awardees in Pepperdine’s first annual Waves of Innovation competition—a contest created to inspire, engage, and motivate faculty, staff, and students to help rethink Pepperdine and shape its future. There were over 150 proposals submitted by faculty, staff, and students on how to improve Pepperdine and make it a more agile and sustainable institution.

The Waves of Innovation Committee and University President Andrew Benton reviewed the submissions and narrowed it down to eight semi-finalists. These submissions were then reevaluated on their potential to increase the net resources available to support Pepperdine and improve the University’s reputation.
