Chief Executive of Panasonic to Speak at Rutgers

On Thursday, February 20, the Chairman and CEO of Panasonic North America, Joseph M. Taylor, will speak at Rutgers Business School Newark/New Brunswick. The event is part of Rutgers’ CEO Lecture Series. Taylor’s talk is titled “The Challenge of Remaking a 100-Year-Old Global Corporation,” and he will discuss the steps Panasonic took to adapt to the global marketplace and emerge from its business struggles.

Panasonic Corporation of North America is the main North American subsidiary of the Panasonic Corporation. The North American subsidiary handles Panasonic’s US marketing, sales, branding, R&D, and service operations. The subsidiary also manufactures and distributes digital and electronics products to consumers, workplaces, and industry facilities in the US and Canada.

During Taylor’s time as CEO, Panasonic North America has moved its headquarters to a new office tower in Newark, New Jersey. The new location gives employees easy access to regional mass transit. The building is also environmentally friendly, with energy-saving, water-saving, and accessible elements as part of its design.

Taylor has worked at Panasonic for thirty years, and has held many roles with the company in that time. In addition to leading Panasonic’s North American operations, Taylor currently serves as a Managing Executive Officer of the Japan-based Panasonic Corporation. As Managing Executive officer, Taylor helps to formulate and execute Panasonic’s global business strategies. Before assuming these roles, Taylor was the Chief Operating Officer of Panasonic, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Panasonic Industrial Company, and a Vice President and Member of the Board of Panasonic Corporation of North America.
