Cranfield University to Host 2014 Mindfulness at Work Conference

Cranfield University in Bedfordshire will host the 2014 Mindfulness at Work Conference on September 23rd. The conference aims to break new ground by evaluating the evidence base for mindfulness in the workplace from scientific, business, and practitioner perspectives.

“We have an unprecedented line up of 29 international thought-leaders who will share their cutting-edge work on the practice of organizational mindfulness. Our vision for this conference is to aggregate and appraise these distinct perspectives, enabling us to establish the most holistic evidence base for mindfulness at work to date,”says Dr. Jutta Tobias (Lecturer in Performance Management at the School of Management), who is organizing the conference with Juliet Adams of mindfulnet.org. “Mindfulness is an increasingly hot topic in the international business press, and there is a great appetite in the UK and elsewhere to engage with it and explore its benefits, as well as growing interest from many different stakeholders in bringing mindfulness into organizations.”

Speakers will include business leaders from JP Morgan, BT, and Capital One; a US Congressman; a Swedish neuroscientist; and leading mindfulness researchers and trainers from the US, Denmark, Singapore and the UK.

The conference is designed to move the debate on mindfulness in the workplace to the next level, beyond models of mindfulness based on clinical psychology and towards sustainable mindfulness-based workplace solutions for the 21st century organisation.
