Goizueta Student Creates Must-Do List for MBA in Atlanta

Kirk Smith, a student at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School decided that simply checking college credits off a list wasn’t enough for him. So, he started Club 16, something he hopes will grow into a group of students dedicated to experiencing their MBA, and the Atlanta Metro area, to the fullest.

To accomplish this task, Smith put together a list of 16 items that he encourages all of the students of the 2016 2-year MBA class to complete. Smith realized it would be hard for any single person to make a list as comprehensive as he imagined, so, like any self respecting MBA student, Smith put together a survey for students, faculty and staff for input from true Atlantans. Understanding that not all people like their activities in the same flavor, he included an additional list of options for students to customize their experience a bit more. He says the real goal is to get each classmate to complete 16 activities by April 2016.

This isn’t a list Smith thinks is finished. He has plans for the future of the club as well.

“For the class of 2016 the list contains 16 items,” said Smith. “Every year, however, there will be a new club. The incoming Two Year MBAs will be a part of Club 17; the new class will have an opportunity to improve the initial list established by the class of 2016. This means that the list will continue to grow each year, and give each successive class more opportunities to learn about each other as they check items off the list.”
