The Conventional MBA and the Executive-Style MBA at the Lucas Graduate School of Business have been reworked and renamed the Early Career MBA and the MBA for Professionals. The programs will differ according to the student profile, the time allotted for program completion, program flexibility, admission cycles and deadlines and the program location.

The Early Career MBA program is designed for students that have a limited amount of professional work experience. Generally, students in this program have between zero and five years of experience. Classes for this program are held on the San José State University Campus. The MBA for Professionals program is for students who have more than five years of professional work experience. This program has a flexible schedule, which is ideal for working professionals. Classes for this program are held at the Lucas Business Complex in Santa Clara.

The Early Career MBA offers students three different program scheduling options. Students can choose to follow an intense academic pace and complete the MBA in 12 months with the accelerated track, or can take 21 to 24 months to complete the program with the full-time track. Lucas also offers a part time option for students who will continue working on a full-time basis during their time at Lucas. Students who follow this track can complete the program in three to three and half years.

The Lucas MBA consist of fourteen courses made up of 10 core courses and four elective courses. All students complete the same 10 core courses. Students choose the elective courses based on their interests and future career goals. Core courses cover all major functional areas of business to give students a broad business knowledge. Elective courses allow students to shape their own curriculum and emphasize deeper knowledge in some of the functional areas covered in the core courses.
