Haas Names New Executive Fellow

Haas School of Business - UC Berkeley

Haas School of Business has recently named Debby Hopkins as a new Executive Fellow, according to a press release from the school. Hopkins is Citi’s Chief Innovation Officer and CEO of Citi Ventures. Haas created their Executive Fellowship in 2007 so that respected businesspersons could advise the dean, faculty, and staff as well as give Haas students a chance to see their expertise and trailblazing ideas.

Before joining Citi in 2003 as head of strategies, Hopkins worked in senior positions at Boeing, Lucent, and General Motors. As Chief Innovation Officer, Hopkins and her team are responsible for finding the best entrepreneurial approach to promote growth at Citi and shape the future of financial services. She has twice been named one of the most powerful women in business by Fortune magazine and has been on Institutional Investor’s Tech 50 list every year since 2011. Hopkins is no stranger to Haas. She spoke there in 2012 as part of their Dean’s Speaker Series. She also has two Haas alumni on her team, Ian Lee, MBA 2005 and senior vice president and Tanya Shadoan, MBA 1995 and director of marketing and communications.

Hopkins was excited for the chance to share her experience with the staff and students at Haas. “I look forward to building strong ties with the Haas community and thinking together about the evolving nature of innovation and entrepreneurship in this time of incredible disruption and speed, when business as we know it is being reimagined in dramatically new ways,” she said in a press release from the school.
