Texas Business Schools Ranked as Best for a Global MBA

Texas business schools were well-represented on a recent worldwide study of the best places to earn a global MBA.

In a recent report from the Financial Times, business schools were ranked based on the average salary of graduates three years after leaving the university. Also factored in was the amount increase in each student’s salary after earning their MBA.

Of the one hundred business schools around the world, three Texas schools appeared on the list. With students averaging a salary of $123,058 a year- and roughly 104% salary increase after earning an MBA- the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Rice University was ranked as the 43rd best school for a global MBA in 2015. Averaging data from the last three years, the Jones school ranks at No. 38.

Students from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business had a slightly higher average salary than Rice, but also a slightly lower percent increase with an MBA. Graduates from McCombs averaged a salary of $133,300 three years after graduation and witnessed a 96% salary increase with an MBA, placing the school at No. 40 this year.

Finally, the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University ranked as No. 76 for 2015. Three years after graduation from Cox, students average a salary of $110,297 and a 96% increase with their MBA.

Not just important for a global MBA, these three Texas schools additionally all ranked in the top 150 in the 2015 Center for World University Rankings report. The report, which evaluated 1,000 schools worldwide, was released in July of 2015 and ranks the best universities in the world.
