“We have the kind of class that I, as a professor, love to teach—and a class that employers will be excited about in two years,” Brian Golden, vice dean of professional programs tells Poets&Quants in a statement. “This class is bright, talented, diverse, and the most equipped in recent history to handle the increasingly complex and ambiguous challenges at work by virtue of their background and experience as well as their ability to articulate and communicate ideas. This will be a class to watch.”

The class is made up of students from a variety of backgrounds and industries. 24.9% of the students come from the financial services sector, and consulting (9.4%), technology (9.4%), healthcare (7.7%) and professional services (5.7%) make up some of the other background experiences. Each individual admitted to the Rotman School of Management MBA program was chosen based on their unique experiences and perspectives, with the goal to broaden and enrich the Rotman MBA experience.

For the new class, life at Rotman will be challenging and rewarding, after all they are attending the top MBA program in Canada according to Canadian Business. And Canada itself was just ranked the 14th best country in the world for starting and funning a business according to the World Bank Group.

The 2017 MBA class started the school year with an Orientation Camp, a weekend-long retreat to a private camp north of the city. Then students jumped into their first four-week term to study Model-Based Decision Making, Integrating Models and Data, Managerial Economics, and Ethics.
