Risk Management and Insurance Students at UNT Awarded with Scholarships

Cranfield School scholarship award

Seven students from the University of North Texas – College of Business were recently awarded with scholarships from the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) Education Foundation.

The seven students- John Cameron, Kaylyn Graham, Nathan Johnson, Savannah Peterson, Marquin Richardson, Enrique Tudon and Julia Vivian- are all enrolled in the risk management and insurance program at UNT, and each received $2,000 in academic scholarships. The students furthermore received the opportunity to attend ICT’s annual Mid-Year Symposium in Austin this coming July 2016.

According to Mark Hanna from the ICT, “…every scholarship recipient was highly recommended by their professor and each student has exceptional qualities. The ICT scholarships are our way of rewarding these outstanding students and encouraging them to seek employment in the insurance industry.”

Scholarship recipients additionally attended a presentation of their awards on November 18th, which included a meeting with Hanna and students/faculty in the UNT risk management and insurance program. Hanna also spoke at a meeting of the Gamma Iota Sigma chapter.

The scholarship presentation was attended by several faculty members, including Marcia J. Staff, chair of the department of finance, insurance, real estate and law. “We are very grateful to the Insurance Council of Texas Education Foundation for their continued support of our risk management and insurance program,” she said. “Their generosity makes it possible for many students to continue working towards their degree.”

The ICTEF not only helps provide scholarships for students, but also offers funds that can enhance the risk management and insurance program, including support for student participation in conferences such as the ICT Mid-Year Symposium.
