Mary Lea McAnally was recently appointed by dean Eli Jones as the Director of Innovation and Strategic Planning at the Texas A&M University – Mays Business School, completing the school’s leadership team.

McAnally officially began in her new role on September 1, after serving in the position as an interim for a year. Currently, she holds the Philip W. Ljungdahl Chair in Accounting at Mays, and also served as the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs from 2011-2015.

“I am pleased that Mary Lea will continue to facilitate our Strategic Planning Initiative,” said Jones. “Together, we, Mays faculty and staff, with input from our Former students, are crafting a vision for Mays that will unlock our potential to further rise as a nationally prominent business school known for engagement, innovation and impact.”

McAnally’s appointment marks the completion of Mays’ leadership team, assembled by Dean Eli Jones. Previous appointments include Duane Ireland as executive associate dean and Annie McGowan as Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion. Both have a long history of involvement with Mays: Ireland joined the Department of Management in 2004, while McGowan has served as the director of the Professional Program in Accounting (PPA) since 2008.

Additional changes were made to the leadership of MBA programs at Mays, for the first time appointing two leaders. Finance Professor Arvind Mahajan has taken the role of associate dean for graduate programs and Accounting Associate Professor Mike Kinney has been named assistant dean.

Bala Shetty, who has held several leadership roles over the past few years- including interim associate dean for graduate programs- will be returning to a faculty position as information and operations management professor.
