Cullen Trust for Higher Education Inducted In CSB Hall of Fame

CSB Hall

Winner, Trophy, Celebration

The University of St. Thomas – Cameron School of Business recently inducted the Cullen Trust for Higher Education into the CSB Hall of Fame, announced during the CSB Business Symposium in November.

The Cullen Foundation is a charitable giving fund established in 1947, with a long history of generous giving in the cultural arts, public service, health care and education in Texas. The foundation and its entities have made lifetime commitments to UST of almost $30 million, more of $21 million which came directly from the Cullen Trust for Higher Education. With the Cullen funds, CSB has been able to establish three chairs: one in economics, one in finance and one in business ethics. The current Chair holders are Dr. Hassan Shirvani, economics; Dr. Joe Ueng, finance and Dr. Mary Catherine Sommers, business ethics.

On November 18 at the CSB Business Symposium, the trust was recognized as the newest member of the CSB Hall of Fame. The award was accepted by Corbin J. Robertson Jr., chairman of the trust and grandson of the foundation’s original founders, Hugh Roy Cullen and Lillie Cranz Cullen.

With its admission to the CSB Hall of Fame, the Cullen Trust for Education joins other leaders in business and education, such as CSB faculty members Dr. Javed Ashrav, longtime staff member Lucille P. Wood, and donors like the Harry S. and Isabel C. Cameron Foundation, among others. The CSB Hall of Fame was established in 2010 to acknowledge those who have lent their knowledge or resources to Cameron to help the business school succeed. Recipients are on display in UST’s Welder Hall.
