Hankamer Professor Awarded for Success in Information Systems

Information Systems

An Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Department at the Baylor University – Hankamer School of Business, John Tripp, was recently awarded the Early Career Award from the Association for Information Systems.

The Association for Information Systems (AIS) awards individuals early in their career who have already made strides in teaching, research and other service contributions in the information systems field.

John Tripp, in his 5th year at Baylor, has already created a huge impact within the information systems field, actively contributing innovative research and offering effective classroom leadership.

Within research Tripp has already published two pieces in the Journal of the AIS, with additional submissions currently under review at other top journals for the industry. His research goes beyond far beyond the United States and into the global sphere, as he has examined how online social networking applications are affecting an individual’s performance and success at work. “It’s a broad spectrum,” Tripp said, “But my research tends to be focused on work group dynamics, social media and how those things merge.”

Tripp has most certainly proved himself as an important leader in the classroom. At Michigan State, Tripp was honored with the Ph.D. teaching award and was nominated at Hankamer Business School for the Excellence in Teaching Award just last year. He has also proved himself with service to the AIS and IS communities through his position on the editorial board of the Communications of the AIS.

Before Hankamer, Tripp worked for more than 15 years as an IT Professional. At Baylor, Tripp works at the undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. level.
