Twitter to Join Other Major Tech Brands in Ponce City Market

It’s a huge boon to MBA students when major companies open offices near campus. For schools in the Atlanta metro area this is one of their biggest strengths. Atlanta is already home to a litany of major corporations and more even more start-ups. What more could you ask for? How about Twitter increasing their presence in the area by almost 500 percent?

According to a recent article by Urvash Karkaria in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Twitter will lease around 8,000 square feet in the new Ponce City Market. With this move Twitter is expected to grow it’s sales and marketing team to about 70 people from their current 15.

These employees will include brand strategists, who help Fortune 500 brands create marketing campaigns for the website. This summer when the office is scheduled to open these strategists will be contributing to a major revenue stream for Twitter. Twitter reported these campaigns contributed $361 million in third quarter sales.

The Ponce City Market opened in 2014 in the fully renovated Sears, Roebuck & Company building in the Fourth Ward. A mixed-use redevelopment project, PCM is already home to MailChimp, athenahealth, HowStuffWorks and Cardyltic. Google is also reportedly looking for office space in the building.

Aside from the offices, PCM’s other uses will help craft the live-work-play lifestyle tech companies foster everywhere they go. Ponce features everything from studio to three bedroom apartments on the higher floors of the building. There are also a mix of cafes, specialty stores, clothing boutiques and food on premises.
