Haub School to Honor Alum in Annual Hall of Fame Tribute

Haub School of Business

On April 13, 2016 the Haub School of Business of St. Joseph’s University will host its annual Hall of Fame Award dinner at the Union League in Philadelphia. The event honors alumni that have made outstanding accomplishments in their fields.

This year’s honoree is Mark Casale, who graduated from the Haub School in 1986 with a degree in accounting. He earned his MBA at New York University.

Casale is CEO and president of the Essent Group, Ltd., a firm which offers risk management products to mortgage lenders and investors in support of home ownership, as well as mortgage insurance and reinsurance. Essent completed its successful IPO in 2013 (NYSE: ESNT) under Casale’s guidance. According to the firm’s website:

“Essent provides private capital to bear mortgage credit risk, enabling lenders and mortgage investors to make mortgage financing available for homeowners. Essent’s strength is derived from its strong capital position, consistent best-in-class customer service, and collaborative approach to building long-term business relationships.”

Casale served in various senior management positions for the Radian Group, most recently as the president of Radian Guaranty, Inc., its mortgage insurance subsidiary. Prior to this position, Casale managed capital markets and strategic investments for Radian and also headed the company’s joint venture businesses. Additionally, he held various management positions at Advanta Corp, including a role as senior vice president for corporate finance services.

Past honorees for the Hall of Fame Award have been 2015 recipient Mike Jackson (’71), Chairman and CEO of AutoNation; and A. Bruce Crawley (’67), president and CEO of Millenium3Management, who received the honor in 2014.
