Rady and Jacobs Schools Partner Up For Technology Management and Entrepreneurism Fellowship

San Diego

The Rady School of Management and the Jacobs School of Engineering are partnering up for an exciting new fellowship program focused on Technology Management and Entrepreneurism in the San Diego Metro. The program brings graduate students from engineering programs together with upstart MBAs for a four-course, 16-unit fellowship that puts emphasis on technologies with commercialization potential. On Amir, Rady School Professor of Marketing, said in a statement on the school’s website:

“Creating cross-functional teams of MBAs and engineers presents a win-win for utilizing the relevant strengths of the Jacobs and Rady Schools to move from innovation to impact and generate local, national and global impact.”

The fellowship is offered to UC San Diego M.S. and Ph.D. engineering students. Together with Rady MBAs, teams will work in the Lab to Market practicum sequence, developing ideas for new startups or coming up with solutions to improve some aspect of an existing company.

Robert S. Sullivan, Dean of the Rady School of Management, said:

“We are in an enviable position to be able to unite students from our top-ranked engineering program with our innovation-centric MBA program. UC San Diego is a fertile ground for technology and I look forward to the entrepreneurial ideas and initiatives that will come from this new program.”

The fellowship has advantages for both engineering students and MBAs — it gives engineering students a solid understanding of how business works and MBAs gain access to technologies with commercialization potential.

The Technology Management and Entrepreneurism is currently in its first term. Students taking part in the fellowship will be recognized as Technology Management and Entrepreneurship Fellows and awarded a certificate of completion of the program.
