Business School Faculty and Staff Honored at DePaul Convocation

A recent article by Robin Florzak highlights the achievements of eight DePaul University staff members who were recognized at the university’s Academic Convocation ceremony for their teaching, public service and dedication to business students.

“It is a noble calling that we undertake in higher education,” DePaul Provost Marten denBoer said to kick off the convocation. “Many students come here seeking a pathway to a job, but we give them much more than that. We have the privilege of introducing students to the intellectual life, the life of the mind, and that is a far greater gift.”

The following awards were presented: Associate Professor of Management Marty Martin received the Excellence in Public Service Award; Economics Chair Tom Donley received a Spirit of DePaul Award for his leadership in support of DePaul’s mission; and Academic Advisor Rhonda Bartosik received the Gerald Paetsch Academic Advising Award, which recognizes excellence in student advising.

Two business faculty members won Excellence in Teaching Awards: Rich Rocco, assistant professor of marketing, and Yvette Lopez, associate professor of management.

Five faculty members from the Driehaus College of Business also had their tenure and/or promotion announced at the ceremony: Lopez, who was promoted to her above mentioned potion; Jaclyn Jensen, promoted to associate professor of management; Melissa Markley, promoted to associate professor of marketing; Robert Rubin, promoted to professor of management; and Jun Xu, promoted to associate professor of marketing.
