GWSB MBA Ranked by U.S. News & World Report

Out of more than 450 accredited MBA programs, the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) MBA (Full-time) program came in ranked 51st in the 2017 U.S. News & World Report rankings. This was a seven spot improvement from last year’s rankings for the GWSB MBA. The U.S. News & World Report full-time rankings are derived from the collective results of a survey of business school deans and MBA program directors.

The climb from 58 to 51 drew an exuberant response from the school and its administrators. In a press release, GWSB Dean Linda A. Livingstone said:

“Our significant climb in the U.S. News & World Report rankings is a reflection of the academic excellence of our faculty, the hard work and dedication of our staff, and the quality of our students.”

Located in the middle of the Washington D.C. Metro, GWSB is an international leader in education and research. The full-time MBA program is a two-year program that follows a traditional two semester model comprised of 57 credit hours in a cohort structure. Within the cohorts, students are formed into five- and six-member teams, which are designed to strengthen the overall MBA experience by meshing people of different ages, genders, professional backgrounds, and cultures.

The first-year core curriculum centers on GWSB’s values of ethics, leadership, globalization, and teamwork. All first-year students also participate in one of several Consulting Abroad Projects (CAPs).

In the second year, the full-time MBA curriculum consists of electives and the School of Business’s capstone courses in entrepreneurship and business strategy. Students can customize their programs by choosing 12 elective courses from knowledge domains including: decisions sciences and operations management, environmental management and policy, organizational behavior and development, real estate and urban development, small business and entrepreneurship, sport management, strategic management, and public policy, among others.

GWSB’s David Fowler Career Center offers comprehensive in-person and online career services, including research tools, résumé and correspondence development, interview preparation, networking opportunities, job postings and on-campus recruiting. These resources help get 65 percent of GWSB MBA grads find jobs in the fields of consulting, finance and accounting, or marketing and sales. 85 percent of those seeking employment found jobs within 90 days of graduation

“The latest numbers for percentage of MBA graduates accepting job offers and average starting salary are the best ever posted by GWSB,” said Gil C. Yancey, executive director of the school’s F. David Fowler Career Center, “and are a direct result of a new career curriculum that allows us to better prepare our students to succeed and lead in the workforce.”
