NYT Columinst David Brooks to Deliver Special Lecture at George Washington
On Tuesday, February 25 from 6:00pm, the George Washington School of Business will host New York Times columnist David Brooks for the Inaugural Richard W. Blackburn Endowed Lecture on Civility and Integrity at the Lisner Auditorium. Brooks will discuss topics and issues related to the importance of civility in business discourse and integrity in business conduct.
Brooks has been writing for the New York Times Op-Ed column since September 2003. He has been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly. Additonally, he is a commentator on PBS NewsHour. Brooks has authored books like “Bobos In Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There” and “On Paradise Drive : How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense,” and his most recent book, “The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement,” was published by Random House in March 2011.
This lecture was created through a gift by George Washington Trustee Richard W. Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn said he endowed the lecture because of his belief that success in business always depends on trust and that trust must be earned every day. “Civility and integrity are the essential foundations for creating and sustaining that trust,” he said.
