McDonough MBAs Raise $7,000 for Charity in Basketball Tournament

Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business hosted the 25th annual Ultimate 4 MBA Basketball tournament on February 16, 2014, in Yates Field House. The tournament raised approximately $7,000 for charity.

The Ultimate 4 Tournament is the largest and oldest basketball tournament for business school students. The tournament is a two-day event where business schools students from across the country compete for basketball supremacy and for charity. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Horton’s Kids, which provides education and heath and nutrition for low-income students in DC’s Ward 8 district.

Horton’s Kids’ mission is to educate and empower the children of Washington, DC’s Ward 8 by providing comprehensive, direct services which improve the quality of their daily lives and nurture their desire and ability to succeed.

From intensive tutoring sessions to healthy meals, our wrap-around programs strive to meet the children’s varied academic, social, and emotional needs.  Hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers and generous donors make these programs possible.

This year’s event featured 13 teams from top business schools that included Harvard, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, and Duke. The first, round robin round were played on the 15th, while the playoff games were completed on the 16th.

Chicago Booth won the tournament, defeating Duke’s Fuqua School of Business in the final round.
