Bauer Kicks off Distinguished Leaders Series with GDF SUEZ President
University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business will begin the semester’s Distinguished Leaders Series on March 10. The first speaker in the series will be Zin Smati, GDF SUEZ Energy North America President and CEO.
This event begins at 6 p.m. in Melcher Hall Room 160. It will be open to students, alumni and community members. The event is free to attend but you need to RSVP to reserve your spot – for more details see the school’s news page.
Smati’s presentation will be “Creating Value in Emerging Markets: GDF SUEZ Growth in Mexico.” The lecture will discuss how to find opportunity in untapped areas and use this to be agile in a constantly shifting energy industry.
Zin Smati is the president and CEO of GDF SUEZ Energy North America, which is a subsidiary of GDF SUEZ. If you’re unfamiliar, GDF SUEZ is an multinational electric utility company based out of France. As CEO Smati has a host of responsibilities including the general management, growth, and profitability of the company’s North American energy businesses.
Even before Samti joined GDF SUEZ in 2006 he had an impressive resume. His time in the energy industry includes time as president and CEO of BP Amoco Global Power, senior vice president of Business Development and Marketing for Amoco Power, Vice president of Worldwide Power Development for Arco, and manager of International Development for National Power of the United Kingdom.
The Distinguished Leaders Series is presented by AGL Resources and their Houston-based energy companies.
