Kaplan Names Carey as a Top MBA Program For Local Outdoor Recreation

In an article for the Kaplan Test Prep website, the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School was named among four schools with the best local options for outdoor recreation. It’s important for many prospective MBAs to have their programs located in lively, outdoor-friendly cities. How did Carey fit into that equation?

In the article, Kaplan explains that Carey’s MBA program sets itself apart as one of “the best MBA programs for experiential learning and entrepreneurship,” citing the Innovation for Humanity Project. Carey’s website characterizes the project as “a central and highly distinctive element of the Carey Business School’s Global MBA program,” and “an international learning experience that develops agile and creative business leaders who gain first-hand knowledge in building sustainable businesses in developing markets.” The article also describes the school’s Discovery to Market Project, which gives MBAs the opportunity to take a scientific discovery from inception to product stage.

How do the outdoors fit in? Johns Hopkins is located in the Baltimore area along the Patapsco River and Chesapeake Bay. According to The Chesapeake Bay Program, “the Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States and an incredibly complex ecosystem that includes important habitats and food webs. The Bay and its rivers, wetlands and forests provide homes, food and protection for diverse groups of animals and plants. Fish of all types and sizes either live in the Bay and its tributaries year-round or visit its waters as they migrate along the East Coast. Directly outside the city, Baltimore residents can easily access trails on the Greenbelt Park. Offering hiking, swimming, fishing, and canoeing, Gunpowder Falls State Park is ideal for getting outdoors and into nature.

It’s important to go outside, stretch your legs and smell the roses while completing your MBA degree. A relaxing, serene and fulfilling outdoor experience at Carey gives business school students the opportunity to do just that.
