Alumni Spotlight: George Washington School of Business’ Ian Newberg

Ian Newberg, George Washington University School of Business BA’88 and MBA ‘90, was recently promoted to the position of Vice-President of Business Development at Americas for Cubic Corporation. This American public corporation provides military defense equipment and automated fare collection equipment. Newberg’s new role will have him managing business development activity for all transportation business lines for the U.S, Canada, Central and South America.

Cubic’s businesses are primarily engaged in the design, development, manufacturing, integration, and sustainment of high technology systems, products, and services for government and commercial customers. With fiscal year 2014 sales of $1.398 billion, Cubic operates in nearly 60 countries and employs nearly 8,000 people worldwide. The organization has thrived on a forward-thinking approach to how research and design apply to global challenges. Innovation by design has been the backbone of the company. Cubic’s global presence is second to none for live & virtual combat training and fare collection systems.

According to Newberg’s LinkedIn, he had previously spent time as the President of NextBus, which was acquired by Cubic Corporation in January 2013. NextBus is North America’s leading provider of real-time passenger information systems with more than 100 transit agency deployments in the United States and Canada. Newberg’s mission was the expansion goals while taking Nextbus to the next level in the transit industry, including integration into the Nextcity transportation solution.
