Carey Business School’s Toby Gordon With Excellence in Teaching Award

Thanks to her above-and-beyond work at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Associate Professor Toby Gordon has been given the Excellence in Teaching Award from students in the 2013-2015 cohort of the MBA/Master of Public Health dual-degree program, according to a press release on the school’s website.  The Johns Hopkins dual MBA/MPH is the ideal degree program for health professionals who want to expand their business knowledge, expertise, and career opportunities and is offered by the Carey School and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Gordon, ScD (Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins University) joined the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2010 and is an Associate Professor with expertise in the areas of healthcare policy, management of hospitals and health systems, and technology commercialization. She has joint appointments in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Surgery.

At Carey, Gordon serves as the academic program director of the health care management programs and directs the Discovery to Market course on technology commercialization. In addition, she is the deputy director for business strategies for the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is currently the section editor of Medical Technology for the journal Surgical Innovation and serves as a health care expert for the European Commission.

Gordon is no stranger to honors and accolades: She has also won the 2013 Innovation in Teaching Award from the Middle Atlantic Association of Colleges of Business; was named to the Top 100 Minority and Women Business Entrepreneur (MBE) in 2007; won the 2002 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award in the State of Maryland; and the 2000 Publication Award of Excellence from AAMC Group on Institutional Advancement; among more.
