Bauer Students and Alum to Battle for Investors at Shark Tank Auditions

Life as an entrepreneur can be incredibly competitive and bringing a new product to market by finding investors can be messy. But at least it makes good television. At the end of May, University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business will have a special casting call for the popular TV show Shark Tank.

On Friday, May 29, ABC’s Shark Tank will come to Bauer. Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to the private casting event. The production team has a particular interest in ideas related to the STEM field, but participants are welcome to pitch other ideas.

If you’re not familiar with Shark Tank, Trey Strange explains the concept in his post on the university’s news website. “The Emmy-award winning series includes a panel of “sharks,” or self-made multi-millionaire and billionaire investors (including Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary and Barbara Corcoran),” Strange said. “Entrepreneurs must pitch their business ideas to earn the support of one or more “sharks” in the form of investment.”

The university’s private auditions will be held on UH’s main campus from 10-1pm. The following day, Saturday, May 30, there will be public auditions for people in Houston and the surrounding area. For everyone interested in attending, you can find the Shark Tank application here.
