Smith School Celebrates Global Initiatives

The Robert H. Smith School of Business organized its first Smith Global Showcase. The event was put together by the Office of Global Initiatives (OGI) and brought students, staff and faculty together to celebrate everything that is global at the school.

Teachers set to lead short-term, for credit courses during 2016’s winter and spring breaks, came to promote their study aborad programs to Nicaragua, Paris/Amsterdam; Brussels/London/Amsterdam; Cape Town and Saigon/Hong Kong. Students who had previously gone on one of these trip where also there to share stories about their own study away experiences. Embassies located in Washington, D.C., including from Brazil and the Netherlands, lent their support by sending books, brochures and maps to help promote 2016’s faculty led programs to their countries.

The Office of Global initiative is proud of the 360 undergrads and 230 MBA students who studied or interned abroad in the 2013-14 academic year, the 100+ international exchange and visiting students who come to Smith annually, and the 57,000 alumni spanning 58 countries in the Smith network. OGI, led by Director Rebecca Bellinger, looks forward to another year of learning opportunities throughout Van Munching Hall, College Park and around the globe.
