Bauer Participates in White House Convening for Women in Business

Latha Ramchand, the dean of the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, committed the school to a set of best practices to help women in business succeed in school and throughout their careers during a convening at the White House. Ramchand also committed the school to develop an experience that prepares business school students for future work environments.

Ramchand was one of 45 leaders of business schools who was invited to participate in the convening, which featured a conversation on recruiting, training, and retaining leaders for the workplace of the future and implementing workplace policies that support families. The event was hosted by the Council on Women and Girls and the Council of Economic Advisors.

“We fully support the intent of the best practices outlined during the convening at the White House this week,” said Ramchand.

The best practices are organized around four main initiatives: ensuring access to business careers and business schools for underrepresented business populations, developing a business school experience that prepares students to participate in the future workplace environment, serving as an example of how organizations should be run, and providing more comprehensive career services offerings to go beyond the needs of traditional students.

“At Bauer College, we are working on several initiatives that are very consistent with what’s being outlined in the document, and our focus is on providing opportunities to determined, motivated and driven students so that they are prepared to lead in a workforce that continues to evolve,” Ramchand said.
