On September 18th, Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School will host Mays alum and president/CEO of Cigna Corporation, David Cordani.

Cordani, one such CEO, received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and has now returned to share his thoughts on a number of current issues in business.

As the leader of Cigna, Cordani shared his thoughts on how healthcare could be improved in the United States. His beliefs include emphasizing the importance of empowering individuals be engaged in their own care management, rather than simply focusing on lower costs.

The head of the accounting department at Mays, James Benjamin, recalls having Cordani in his class: “David Cordani’s relatively quick rise to be one of the leaders in the healthcare field is particularly remarkable. I am confident he will continue to make important contributions to this very important field.”

Cordani has been the president and CEO of Cigna since 2009, and has been with the company for over twenty four years. During his time as president, he has doubled the size of the company and served as an important voice in the healthcare community. He currently leads more than 37,000 employees in over 30 countries at Cigna.

Cordani worked with Coopers & Lybrand prior to his time at Cigna. Additionally, Cordani is a board member of ChildObesity180 and serves on the Board of Directors for General Mills and U.S.-India Business Council.
