Two Carey School of Business Faculty Members Discuss B-School’s Growth
Two faculty members at Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business — Valerie Suslow, Vice Dean for Faculty and Kevin Frick, Research and Vice Dean for Education — we recently quoted in a Maryland Daily Record article noting the recent growth of the Carey Business School.
According to the article, Carey Business School had an incoming student population of only 55 full-time students and 33 full-time faculty members only three short years ago. Today, the school has circa 800 incoming full-time students and the amount of full-time faculty has more than doubled to 76.
Frick said that, “Having a more defined sense of what the school is about has helped growth.”
He explains that the growth is apparent, telling The Daily Record about 3,000 applications were received for the 800 incoming students, and the school’s new [full-time] MBA cohort – to graduate in 2017 – is its largest-ever with 90 students.
Suslow, a new hire, explains how new faculty members who have been willing come to Carey in recent years are very strong, “The type of person who is willing to do that is fun to be around.”
“Starting a new business school in the midst of a changing and competitive landscape is an intriguing venture to be a part of,” Suslow said.
