Entrepreneurship Celebrated at Mays Business School’s 11th Annual Aggie 100 Awards

On October 23rd, Texas A&M’s Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship welcomed 38 new winners to the Aggie 100, an honor reserved for the fastest-growing businesses led or owned by Aggies.

Recipients of the award were honored with a luncheon at The Zone Club, located at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field and including over 700 attendees. The 2015 Aggie 100 class included 32 companies across fields such as architecture, engineering and construction, representing the hard-work and success of TAMU graduates even in the face of economic difficulties.

Of the 32 companies welcomed joining the Aggie 100, the Top 10 companies combined grew over 1,505 percent over the past two years. The top company, Houston’s Empact IT, experienced a compound annual growth rate of 253 percent during that time.

MODA Inc., located in Portland, Oregon, was named the winner of the 2015 Aggie 100 Summit Award. With an average revenue of $2,126,186,333 from 2012-2014, the Summit Award honors the Aggie company with the largest three-year revenue.

Companies on the Aggie 100 list are evaluated for growth based on indicators such as job creation, entrepreneurial vision, and product/service acceptance. Nine states in total were included on the list, with the oldest company honored being founded in 1936.

Richard H. Lester, the Executive Director of Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship, discussed the success of Aggie entrepreneurs. “As we enter our second decade honoring business excellence with the 11th Annual Aggie 100, we reflect on all the Aggie businesses that came before and look forward to the future success of Aggie entrepreneurs to come. From agriculture to technology and everything in between, this year’s list signifies that, no matter your background, the Aggie entrepreneurial spirit is alive and thriving.”
