Smith School Set to Launch Super Days On Campus
It’s a bird, It’s a plane, It’s MBA Super Days at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. According to the school’s website, through a partnership with the school’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations, the Smith Office of Career Services now offers panel discussions, keynote speakers, mock interviews and networking during what’s being dubbed as Smith Super Days.
Jeffrey Kudisch, assistant dean of corporate relations and managing director of the Office of Career Services said in a statement,
“It’s like one-stop shopping packed into a single day. We want to provide students with a super-sized opportunity to network with each other and alumni in the metro D.C. area.”
In the world of investment banking, a Super Day is when a bank flies out all candidates that it is seriously interested in hiring and puts them up in a nearby hotel for rigorous on-site interviews the next day. Smith School Super Days are designed to provide an inside look at specific industries and career tracks to students, as well as network. About 75 students across all Smith MBA programs participated in the Consulting Super Day.
One student was Megan Allums, a part-time MBA student, who said,
“It was a fabulous way to get soft case interview experience. I really liked the setup that you were able to observe others in a small group setting because we were able to learn from each other.”
Two panels were held in the afternoon (a general consulting panel and a Deloitte specific panel) before Super Day ended with a networking reception. Scott Graham of Part-time MBA Association Board said that Smith Super Days,
“…are great learning opportunities that leave me feeling so inspired and excited. I made some great connections with students in the other Smith MBA programs, as well as alumni and consulting professionals.”
