Mays Welcomes Global Scholar V. Kumar as TIAS Faculty Fellow

V. Kumar, a Faculty Fellow for the Texas A&M University Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS), will be welcomed by the Texas A&M University – Mays Business School during a reception on February 23.

The 2016-17 class of Faculty Fellows at TIAS includes ten scholars who are selected through a process of faculty nominations. TIAS was established in December of 2010 by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents to expand the positive academic reputation of the university and attract top scholars across the country and beyond to the school.

V. Kumar (VK) has a long resume, including the Regents Professor; Richard and Susan Lenny Distinguished Chair Professor of Marketing; executive director of the Center for Excellence in Brand & Customer Management and Ph.D. program director at the Georgia State University – J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He also serves as the Chang Jiang Scholar at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. 

VK has been honored with awards and fellowships across the globe, including the Chang Jiang Scholar in China, Lee Kong Chian Fellow in Singapore and Indian School of Business Senior Fellow in India. In his spare time, VK travels the world helping business leaders identify problems in their organization and maximize their profits. He has published over 250 articles and 25 books in multiple languages, receiving multiple awards in research and teaching. In 2017, VK was selected as a “Legend in Marketing,” having his work published in a 10-volume encyclopedia with work from scholars around the world.

On February 23, Mays will welcome VK with a reception at the Cocanougher Center, featuring formal comments from the scholar on his work in marketing and other scholarly fields.
