JHU Carey Launches New Health Care Management MBA Program

Most people know that the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a world-class medical school. JHU’s Carey Business School has launched a new cohort-based Health Care Management MBA degree program at DC’s Sibley Memorial Hospital that consists of employees and medical staff from Sibley and Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md.

“Health care is now the world’s largest industry and there is a growing need for qualified business professionals who can manage the complexities of the health care environment,” said Bernie Ferrari, MD, JD, MBA, dean of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, in a press release on the Carey website.

He continued,

“I’m delighted that the talented health care professionals at Sibley Memorial and Suburban hospitals will be able to take advantage of the Carey Business School’s innovative MBA in Health Care Management.”

A prospective MBA in Health Care Management student can expect to undertake a holistic curriculum featuring negotiation, accounting and financial reporting, operations management and decision making classes, along with health care management courses such as health care delivery, financing, health and business law, and health care organization leadership.

The 54-credit degree program can be completed in three years, over which students will take one business course at Sibley each semester concurrently with one online course. You can read more about the program here.

“The Carey Business School’s MBA in Health Care Management offers valuable training in leadership, financial management, and strategic planning. Providing these courses at Sibley Memorial Hospital is a tremendous benefit to our medical staff and employees, and our colleagues at Suburban Hospital,” said Richard “Chip” Davis, PhD, president of Sibley Memorial Hospital.
