Jones School Rises in Ranking of Top MBA Programs

The Rice University – Jones Graduate School of Business MBA program has ranked No. 25 of the best full-time MBA programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

Over the last decade, Rice has seen a tremendous rise in ranking, increasing from below the top 40 to top 25 in all three top business school rankings: Bloomberg Businessweek (unranked in 2006 to No. 19 at present), U.S. News (No. 44 in 2006 to No. 25 at present) and Financial Times (No. 41 in 2016 to No. 24 at present). Rice is the only university to experience such a rise.

For specialty programs, the Jones School’s graduate entrepreneurship program was ranked No. 14 in the United States.

To determine the ranking, U.S. News considers a number of factors such as assessments by employers and placement success. Businessweek emphasizes features like alumni/student satisfaction and employer perception, while Financial Times considers career success and faculty research among the most important factors.

Jones School Dean Bill Glick commented on the Jones’ School’s increased recognition. “Today’s ranking reflects our long-term success in increasing research productivity and impact, graduates’ career success, programmatic excellence and attracting the best students.”

The rise in Rice’s ranking is largely due to an increased recognition of the school’s programs by corporate leaders, as well as a rise in the average starting salary of graduates. Not only is the Jones School recognized for its full-time MBA, but is also frequently lauded for programs such as the Rice MBA for Executives and Rice MBA for Professionals.
