New Dean’s Scholar Award Presented to Outstanding George Mason Faculty

Dean’s Scholar Award

In an effort to show appreciation toward George Mason School of Business faculty members who go above and beyond, the school recently present the newly formed Dean’s Scholar Award.

According to a press release from the business school, the Dean’s Scholar Award recognizes tenured faculty members who excel at and demonstrate sustained contributions in each facet of their job—research, teaching and service. Each faculty member will receive the Dean’s Scholar designation for three years along with a $20,000 stipend per year.

This year’s awardees include:

  • Long Chen: Associate Professor, Accounting: Chen teaches both undergraduate and graduate level accounting courses and has assisted in developing courses for the MS in Accounting program.
  • Cheryl Druehl: Associate Professor, Information Systems and Operations Management: Along with serving on the Mason Core Committee and School of Business Undergraduate Policy Council, Druehl has volunteered her time as an MBA Student association faculty advisor and makes time to attend student and alumni events.
  • Anant Mishra: Associate Professor, Information Systems and Operations Management: Mishra was the winner of the 2015 Outstanding MBA Faculty Award, which is voted on by MBA students. In six years at Mason, he has had eight papers published in premier academic journals with three more under review in premier journals.
  • Kevin Rockmann: Associate Professor, Management: Rockmann has previously been presented with two Outstanding Service Awards and an MBA Distinguished Service Award.
  • Pallab Sanyal: Associate Professor, Information Systems and Operations Management: Sanyal teaches courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. In the past, he has received the University Teaching Excellence Award and Online EMBA Outstanding Faculty Award.

In a statement, Interim Dean Anne Magro said that “Dean’s Scholars represent the best of the best—terrific researchers, great teachers and engaged with our academic communities locally, nationally and internationally.”
