Then here are of some Houston’s Executive MBA (EMBA) programs you may be looking for.While standard full-time MBAs offer students access to deeper coursework and more job recruiters, EMBA programs are tailored to teach skills that can be translated to a student’s current job, and allow for growth within the company. Many EMBA students have been identified as potential leaders at their companies. Some employers may will allow students to pursue their education while still getting full pay, and a majority of employers will even pay for the degree. EMBA classes are typically offered on weekends, ensuring that those enrolled in these programs don’t miss much, if any, work.

Houston’s Executive MBA Programs

C.T. Bauer College of Business – University of Houston

Located on the 667-acre campus of University of Houston in Southeast Houston, the C.T. Bauer College of Business offers three MBA programs, a full-time MBA, a Professional or Flexible MBA program and an Executive MBA program. All of the MBA programs offered at Bauer are American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited.

The Bauer College of Business features two different EMBA options: the Global Energy Executive MBA and the Global Leadership Executive MBA.

Classes for the Global Energy MBA program are offered at Lone Star College in The Woodlands, Texas and at the Bauer campus. The program’s curriculum is designed to prepare leaders in the energy sector to adapt to the growing and changing field. Classes are mostly energy focused and trains students to push for innovation at a time when the energy business is moving beyond its traditional boundaries in terms of geology, economics and regulation. This program takes 22 months to complete.

Meantime, the Global Leadership Executive MBA program is offered in a 22-month and an 18-month format and is offered in Houston. For each version of the Global Leadership Executive MBA there are 19 modules; nine core and 10 specialized, making up 48 credit hours. Much of the coursework is focused on the energy sector and leadership training.

Both EMBA programs at Bauer require students to participate in a seven-day international residency, which is held between the first and second year of the program.

Jesse H. Jones School of Business – Texas Southern University

Founded in 1955, Jesse H. Jones School of Business is part of Texas Southern University, one of the country’s largest historically black colleges and universities. The business school was founded in response to a growing interest in business among students in the city of Houston. Today, the school offers full-time, part-time and executive MBA program options.

Jones’ EMBA program is offered to mid-career professionals in an online setting. The curriculum is made up of nine core courses and three specialized energy finance courses. The cohort-based program takes two years to complete and makes use of virtual classroom technology to make for a flexible learning experience.

Mays Business School – Texas A&M University

Texas A&M first offered a general MBA degree in 1951 and has been AACSB accredited since 1972. Mays Business School is located on A&M’s west campus, just under two hours outside of Houston. Mays also has a facility located in Houston, dubbed the “CITYCENTRE” facility, which opened in 2012. The CITYCENTRE campus encompasses 30,000 square feet of space located on the first and second floors of the CITYCENTRE THREE building and is home to A&M’s Executive MBA Program

The Mays EMBA at CITYCENTRE is a rigorous program designed for executive and business professionals. The 45-credit hour curriculum focuses on concepts in business, leadership and communication. All EMBA candidates must participate in a residency week on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. During the residency week, participants complete the first series of program modules, as well as professional competency modules on business communication, team building and self-assessment. In order to graduate, EMBA students must also complete the Capstone Project—a program-long effort that requires each participant to use their business knowledge and leadership skills to tackle an important challenge facing their company or organization.

McCombs School of Business – University of Texas at Austin

Founded in 1922, the McCombs School of Business is an AACSB accredited institution that offers students everything from undergraduate to terminal degrees. The school’s MBA offerings include a traditional full-time MBA degree, the Texas Executive MBA, a part-time Texas Evening MBA, the Texas Weekend MBA and a dual-degree executive MBA program in Mexico City. The McCombs EMBA can be completed in two years. The cohort-based program consists of 42 credit hours’ worth of classes, including six elective hours. McCombs also features a mentor program, which assigns each student a mentor from the previous year’s class.

Rice University – Jones Graduate School of Business

Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business offers three MBA programs: a full-time MBA, MBA for Executives and an MBA for Professionals. The Rice MBA program is accredited by AACSB International. The Rice EMBA is designed for business leaders who have at least 10 years of management experience and emphasizes the development of individual leadership, strategy and decision-making skills. The 22-month program includes four one-week intensives, executive seminars, a first-year core curriculum, an elective block, a global curriculum feature and pre-program online leveling preparation course.
