Georgetown McDonough Set to Open Tysons Corner Evening EMBA Campus in Fall 2014

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business plans to open a satellite campus at its Tower Club in Northern Virginia’s Tysons Corner as early as fall of 2014. Tysons Corner is a hotspot of D.C. area business and McDonough’s Dean, David Smith, believes that many of Tysons Corner’s promising young professionals would be interested in enrolling in McDonough’s evening MBA program at this new location. If the necessary accreditation and zoning change pass, Dean Smith anticipates an inaugural class of 40 to 60 students Fall 2014.

Georgetown’s McDonough has seen a recent spike in applications to its MBA programs (link to article 10/8). Opening a campus in Tysons Corner would allow McDonough to make strategic use of its Tower Club property while also permitting the program to admit many of the increasingly competitive applicants it currently cannot given the space limitations of its D.C. campus. The McDonough Admissions Department speculates that the Tysons Corner campus will eventually service 150 students. Evening MBA students at the Tysons Corner location would receive instruction from flagship McDonough professors and enjoy the added benefit of an impending Light Rail which would connect Tysons Corner McDonough students to Washington’s Metrorail system.
