Haub Accepted to Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities

The Haub School of Business has announced that it will be participating in the The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities. The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities is an entrepreneurial and small business education program that was founded in 2007 at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. The program is operated by SU’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families.

The Haub school joins several other schools that participate in the EBV program, including the SU’s Whitman School of Management, The Florida State University College of Business, the UCLA Anderson School of Management,  Texas A&M University’s Mays School of Business, the Krannert School at Purdue University, University of Connecticut School of Business, the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University and the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.

Haub Hosts Exec Ed. Open Class Visit

The Haub School of Business at St. Joseph’s University will be hosting an Executive Education Open Class Visit. The visit will be held Jan. 30 and will begin at 8 a.m. Prospective students are welcome to visit for as little as one hour, or stay for the entire morning. Visiting prospective students also have the opportunity to schedule their own one-on-one information session with a program representative.

During the class visit, prospective executive students will have the opportunity to audit and participate in the class they choose to visit. Classes open for visits begin at 8 a.m. and are held until 12 p.m. This class visit will give interested attendants the opportunity to network with current students and professors. Breakfast will be provided to those who attend and a program representative will also be available to answer any questions about the program or application process.

Haub Maintains AACBS Accreditation

The Association to Advance Collegiate Business Schools has once again accredited the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University. This is the third time that the school has received this accreditation. Less than five percent of the world’s business schools and programs have received the accreditation from AACBS.

In order to maintain AACBS accreditation, programs must undergo an internal review every five years. During the review, the program must show its commitment to a certain level of standards. These standards apply to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students and commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

Haub Hosts Family Business Event

The Haub School of Business held a family business event. The event was co-hosted by Haub and the Initiative for Family Business and Entrepreneurship. The event was titled, Succession: The keys to a successful leadership transition. The program took place on the Saint Joseph’s University campus on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in Doyle Banquet Hall at the Campion Student Center.

The Initiative for Family Business and Entrepreneurship aims to build a community of family businesses and entrepreneurs who are committed to continuous improvement via education, benchmarking and the implementation of new strategies for long-term economic growth; create a world-class academic experience for undergraduate students; and develop a research program that continually renews our understanding of the needs for entrepreneurial and family enterprising success.

Haub Alum Offers Insight for Prospective Students

Haub School of Business alumni Amanda Sapio offers an insight into a class at Haub for prospective and current students. Sapio writes gives her input in the June 2014 issues of the Haub School Review.

Sapio writes:

“Students who register for Essentials of Management, taught by Tim Swift, Ph.D., are in for an experience that deviates significantly from the conventional management class. The class integrates service learning and academic coursework with a weekly volunteer requirement, in-class discussions, journal entries and various other assignments,” wrote Sapio. “Swift, an assistant professor of management, focuses on management concepts, best-practices and theories to help his students understand organizational processes within the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.”

Direct from the Dean: Joseph DiAngelo of the Haub School of Business

Joseph DiAngelo has been dean of Saint Joseph University’s Haub School of Business (HSB) since 2000, during which time the student body has doubled, making HSB the largest Jesuit business school in the country. Before that, he was dean of Widener University for  13 years. “I am the longest serving dean in the Philadelphia metro region,” he asserts proudly. Continue reading…
