Sawyer to Offer Overseas Course During Spring Break

Spring break can be a time for visiting friends or catching up on Netflix. However, at Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School, spring break can be a time to take a class in global business–overseas. MBA students will have the chance to travel to Brazil, China, Germany, or England as part of Sawyer University’s Global Travel Seminars. The classes offer students a chance to see how businesses operate in different cultures, the chance to meet international executives, and a chance to explore a different country. Some students have obtained full time positions from their spring break experiences.

Students in the Global Travel Seminars will meet for three class sessions at Sawyer, where they will learn more about their destination’s cultural influences on the business world, economy and position in the global marketplace, challenges when doing business, and the political, social, and cultural environment. Then, the whole class will go abroad for 7-10 days to visit companies like 3M, Lufthansa, Volkswagen, the World Trade Organization (WTO), Lenovo, the Bombay Stock Exchange, and Coca Cola. While abroad, the students will also get to go on city tours and sightseeing trips, visit historic landmarks and museums, and even explore the city on their own. Once they have returned to Sawyer, students will present a final seminar project.

Sawyer just announced that they are holding information sessions for students about this opportunity, and registration will begin on November 1st. Each Global Travel Seminar is a 3-credit international business course at Sawyer, and the seminar is a required course for global MBA students. You can find more information about Sawyer’s four business travel seminars here.
