Babson Offers New Business Analytics Executive Education Program

Babson College has announced that it will launch a new executive education program called “Business Analytics for Managers: Using Data for Better Decision Making.” The program is intended to help business professionals identify applications for business analytics within the operations of their companies. The course will teach executives to use analytics to improve their companies and gain insight into the effectiveness of their business practices.

Dr. Dessislava A. Pachamanova, the faculty director of the new program says, “We are thrilled to be launching a new program that addresses an area of critical importance for business professionals across a wide range of industries and functional areas. From bid data to small data, it is clear that organizations have real opportunities to leverage analytics for strategic advantage.”

During the program, faculty will teach executives how to recognize patterns and draw connections between seemingly unrelated fields. Executives will learn techniques for generating ideas, evaluating options, and determining solutions, and will work with data sets throughout the program. The program is designed to be intensive, and it intends to give executives a background in the uses of business analytics in financial forecasting, operations, marketing, organizational management, and vendor selection.

The first program will be held on March 3-4 on Babson’s Wellesley, MA campus in the Executive Conference Center. The course will be taught by Babson faculty members, practitioners, and analytics experts. Babson faculty professors for the course include Tom Davenport, a President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management, Bala Iyer, the William D. Bygrave Senior Term Chair and a Professor of Information Technology Management, and Dessislavea A. Pachamonova, a Zwerling Term Chair in Operations Research.
