Terry Alumna Named President of UGA Alumni Association

Ruth Bartlett, an alumna of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and an audit partner at Frazier & Deeter in Atlanta, has been named the 74th president of the University of Georgia Alumni Association. Her term began on July 1, and she will serve for two years. As President of the Alumni Association, Bartlett will also join the University of Georgia Foundation Board of Trustees and the UGA Athletic Association Board of Advisors.

“The university has benefited from Ruth’s leadership for more than a decade,” said Meredith Gurley Johnson, the executive director of alumni relations for the University of Georgia. “She is a driven leader who will help guide the Alumni Association as it enhances its engagement efforts in the university’s upcoming comprehensive campaign.”

Bartlett has more than 35 years of experience in public accounting. She joined Frazier & Deeter in 1990. She then became the firm’s first female partner and served as the head of the audit department for over 15 years. She was the first woman to become president of the Georgia Society of CPAs, and the first female recipient of the society’s Meritorious Service Award. Bartlett has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for more than 20 years.

Since graduating from the Terry College of Business in 1976, Bartlett has shown a high degree of support for her alma mater. She has served as a member of the Terry College Alumni Board, and served as the board’s president in 2005. She also is a past recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. She joined the UGA Alumni Association in 2008, recently served as its vice president, and helped form the Hilton Head Chapter of the UGA Alumni Association in 2014. Bartlett also takes an interest in mentoring UGA students and ensuring the quality of their education.

“Our board is excited to engage our exceptional students with our alumni family through regional programs and signature events, such as Bulldog 100, 40 Under 40 and the UGA Day tour,” said Bartlett.
